Hi Doctor Dave, what is difference between Islam and Christian?
Response
The tree great monotheistic faiths (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) have common roots. All declare allegiance to the God of Abraham. Judaism and Christianity continue to share their roots beyond Abraham via Isaac, through until the birth of Jesus, with Christianity declaring Jesus to be the Christ (Messiah) and Judaism rejecting such a claim. Islam follows the line from Ishmael and basis its belief system on the teaching of Mohammad, one claimed by Islam to be a great prophet sent from God.
In Islam, Allah is viewed as a far off distant God, a being to be feared, who is always ready to punish wrong doers. In Christianity, God is seen as personal, wanting to have a relationship with people at a personal level. He is willing to forgive sin if people come to Him and ask.
Islam follows the teaching of their prophet, Christians follow the teaching of Jesus, whom we declare to be God Himself, in human form.
Christianity is the only world religion which claims to follow the Creator who came and died for the sins of His creation, then rose again from the dead and lives forever.
This question is huge and really would take many pages to answer completely. Readers may find the following link helpful in providing a comparison chart of the 3 Monotheistic faiths: http://christianityinview.com/xncomparison.html
