Message / Question

What are your thoughts about Christian films? Isn't it just Christians making money from other Christians? Doesn't the same thing go for Christian music, Christian books, Christian (insert whatever you want to)?

Response

People watch films, read books and listen to music and in order for them to do that, someone has to make the film, write the book and create the music. If the “Christian” music, films and books were not attractive to people, then there wouldn’t be a market for them, so clearly Christians want these things. So is it wrong for a Christian to write books, record songs or make films? Of course not, there is a “market” and Christian business people have the right to fill the market. If a Christian owned a supermarket, or a book shop or a cinema, would it be wrong for them to charge Christians for their food or books? Would they be obliged to allow every Christian to have free access to their cinema? Clearly, the answer is no, even though they may be making some of their money from other Christians. The same principle applies to writing, recording and film making.
