Message / Question

If you look at the One Nation website, Pauline Hanson says: "we are a Christian country" (http://www.onenation.com.au/principals) "We want it to remain so, as one great nation (One Nation under God) and not a bunch of warring hated filled tribes and conflicting multiple cultures" (http://www.onenation.com.au/current_affairs/australia-today-and-tomorrow) "Our Commonwealth Constitution states the swearing in is, “So Help Me God”, or an Affirmation for those who are not Christians. No Christian, even if they were to become elected in a Muslim country, which I highly doubt, would EVER be allowed to be sworn in on the bible" (http://www.onenation.com.au/news/pauline-hansons-one-nation-re-launch-speech-29th-november) "As I said earlier, we are a Christian country and I for one am disgusted when I hear that some of our schools, have banned Christmas carols and Christmas activities, because it may offend others. Never before have Christmas carols been a problem with any migrants other than Muslims" (same source as above) "Jesus Christ talks of love, peace, turning the other cheek, loving thy neighbour, forgiveness of ones enemies. Jesus never killed anyone nor told anyone else to kill anyone. Mohammed not only killed many hundreds of people personally, (he even had pet names for his favourite killing swords) but repeatedly extolled his followers to kill everyone and anyone who dared to not accept his teachings." (http://www.onenation.com.au/current_affairs/do-we-let-them-come-do-we-let-them-stay-refugees-asylum-seekers-by-jim-savage) I think you'd find it hard to find another party website that is so forward about being Christian than One Nation Under God party

Response

I do accept that Australia was founded on Christian principles, but sadly we are not now a “Christian Nation” by any stretch of the imagination. We were built on certain Christian principles and some of those have remained, but generally speaking, we are far from being a Christian nation today.

As for the One Nation web site, I accept that the quotes that you have made do come from their web site and that the statements made are ones that most Christian would endorse. However, other points of view expressed by that particular party may not be as attractive to a majority of Christian people.
