Message / Question

should political leaders play the "christian" card? every one is not perfect, and doesn't it reflect badly upon christians when something bad surfaces?

Response

The “Christian card” is just one of many that some politicians play, however the problem is that “Christian” means different things to different people so for some it may mean that their philosophical views are influenced more by Christianity that say, Islam. For others it means that attend a Christian church at Christmas and Easter and for some it means that are committed followers of Jesus. Politicians who I know who are the “genuine disciples of Jesus” type of Christian, tend not to “play the Christian card” as much as others. I agree that, to a watching world, when someone claiming to be a Christian does something that is bad, it does reflect badly on them and many people will allow the actions of that one person colour their thinking about “Christians” in general, however those who do that clearly have already a poor view of Christians anyway.
