Dave, Barnaby Joyce has declared victory. What do you think about Medicare as a Christian? Should we legislate the requirement to help others?

I guess that there’s already a lot of legislation that is aimed at helping others. For example, we help the unemployed, the sick, the older members of the community etc, by giving them a benefit or pension that provides them with an income. We already run hospitals for the sick, so to extend care for the sick to cover part (or even all) of their medical expenses. If you compare our health system to that of the USA or the UK, I think that we’d all vote for Medicare any day!
