Transsexual at a school

Message / Question
Hello Dr. Dave, not sure if you "censor" questions but this is a completely serious question I'd prefer to ask without revealing who I am: What is wrong with a tranny going to a private girl's catholic high school? Isn't this people's private business? And why should schools even be restricted to only boys or girls anyway? Also, how would other students know the student was a transexual? Would the Christian Church accept "don't ask, don't tell"? As you know people in the LGBTQIAPK community are discriminated against pretty badly, and they're sorting out who they are, highest rates of suicide, etc

I try not to censor the questions and most people ask questions anonymously! First the issue single gender schools. Most schools these days are co-ed, however if a community (whether the community is based on location, religion or anything else) decides that it wants to have a single gender school, then I believe that they have every right to establish such a school. If the school is a privately run (i.e. non State) school, then they have the right to determine who comes to the school. So I would think that if a girl with Nazi type political views wanted to attend a Jewish boys school, then not only would their motive for wanting to attend that school be very suspect, but the school would have every right to refuse to enrol them. If a transsexual wanted to attend a Catholic girl’s school, then the school would have every right to refuse them permission to enroll if their transsexuality was not acceptable to the school community. It would not be denying that person the right to be educated as there are many schools that are public and open to all, however that person’s “right” to attend that school should not override the “rights” of the school community who may consider it not to be in the school’s best interest to allow the person to attend their school.
The bigger issue of discrimination in general is covered in my article on the issue at http://www.drdaves.website/#!1/cdgi7 .
The issue is not simply discrimination against the tranny, the rights of “straight” people are also involved. If a tranny went to an all girl school, I would imagine that many most women (esp mothers) and girls would object to a person who was visibly male anatomically, dressing/showering in their dressing room etc. I think that the majority of the population have a reasonable right to expect that people using gender specific facilities (as the student facilities at an all girl school would be) should, at the very least, anatomically belong to that gender.
