Dr Dave, what do you think of the National Council of Churches?

I’m not a great fan of the Council of Churches as a Christian body. It appears to simply try to create a collective view on social issues, however most of its “declarations” appear to be relatively left of centre in political terms and rarely seems to express view that would have the endorsement of evangelical Christians. Their “pronouncements” on inter-faith action seem a long way from the views generally espoused by evangelicals, even though there are a couple of member denominations that we would generally include in the evangelical grouping. Their work on “Safer Churches” is probably the most widely accepted action of the Council
