Pushing Christian Beliefs

Message / Question

Even though it's universally agreed among Christians that homosexual intercourse is wrong, why should we push our beliefs on non-Christians who don't share our beliefs?

Response

I realise that this is a current issue, however I have answered a lot of questions on this issue, so I’ll keep this answer brief.

We should not PUSH our beliefs on others. If people want to live in a way that is contrary to God’s way, then they are the ones who will have to give account for their own choices. We should love and accept those who live such lifestyle, however loving and accepting someone does NOT equate to agreeing with or approving the things that do. Supporting the traditional definition of marriage is not “pushing our beliefs on non-Christians”, it is simply saying that we still believe in traditional marriage and oppose any change in its definition. Give all the legal rights and legal status to same sex and/or polyamorous relationships, but call it something other than marriage.

Maybe the question that you should be asking is “why should the gay rights people push their beliefs on Christians who don't share their beliefs?” - because, in reality, that is what the same sex marriage is actually about!
